Openings
There is one opening for PhD student in the Materials Design and Characterization Group starting from Fall 2022 semester. If you are interested in metals and alloys, advanced electron microscopy or additive manufacturing, please send your CV and transcript to Prof. Zheng at yufengz@unr.edu.
There is one opening for undergraduate research assistant in the Materials Design and Characterization Group in Fall 2022 semester. If you are interested in accumulating research experience in experimental materials science and engineering, please contact Prof. Zheng for lab tour and further opportunities at yufengz@unr.edu. Three undergraduate students in MDC group have won the prestigious Nevada Undergraduate Research Award to support their research work, and you can be the next winner!
Motivated graduate and undergraduate students, who are interested in novel metallic materials design (titanium alloys, high entropy alloys and superalloys), additive manufacturing (LENS), advanced characterization (electron microscopy and atom probe tomography), phase transformation and deformation mechanisms in metals are welcome to apply. Prospective applicants should have a degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry and related fields. Applicants with knowledge and experience in physical metallurgy of ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, advanced manufacturing and microstructure characterization are highly encouraged to apply. Outstanding visiting scholars and students are also welcome.
Please contact Prof. Yufeng Zheng at yufengz@unr.edu including an up-to-date CV and transcript.
