  • Dec. 2022, Student Award: Mr. James Jenks received Nevada Undergraduate Research Award to support his research in the 3D printed materials for nuclear engineering application. Congratulations!

  • Dec. 2022, Teaching: We have successfully built the remote transmission electron microscopy teaching platform using the remote operation capability of FEI Talos F200s S/TEM. We taught the first remote TEM lecture in the MSE415/615 Materials Characterization class. Thanks for the hard working from my students, Dian and Sydney! We appreciate the support from NSF CAREER Award and UNR Central Differential Fee Grant

  • Dec. 2022, Workshop: Dr. Zheng attended the "Inclusive Faculty Framework: Supporting Equitable Faculty Practices in the Classroom, Lab, Institution and Beyond" workshop in the MRS2022 Fall Meeting. 
  • Nov. 2022, Funding: We have received grant from National Science Foundation to study the novel incommusurate modulated structure in titanium alloys and 4DSTEM! We look forward to the collaboration with the world leading nanostructure expert Dr. Ju Li from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Thanks NSF to support our research!

  • Nov. 2022, Outreach: Dian, Sydney and Dr. Zheng attended the MSE Student Informational Event and introduced electron microscopy to the students.

  • Nov. 2022, Award: Dr. Zheng has won the 2023 TMS Materials Processing & Manufacturing Division (MPMD) Young Leaders Professional Development Award! Dr. Zheng will receive the award in TMS2023 at San Diego.
  • Oct. 2022, Outreach: We welcome educators from Las Vegas visit our research lab. Sydney, Deepak and Dian showed the advanced scanning electron microscope and transmission electron microscope to our visitors during the lab tour.

  • Oct. 2022, Visitor: Prof. Yunzhi Wang from The Ohio State University visited our group and presented the seminar in the CME department. Welcome!

  • Oct. 2022, Student Award: Sydney has won the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program in the NSF EPSCoR Research Infrastructure Improvement (RII) Award to support her research project in the additively manufactured titanium alloys. Congratulations and well done!

  • Mar. 2022, Publication: Dr. Zheng's collaborated paper, Quasi-linear Superelasticity with Ultralow Modulus in Tensile Cyclic Deformed NiTi Strain Glass, has been accepted by Advanced Engineering Materials.
